Averages are a map, not a verdict. Two pitchers the same age can throw ten miles an hour apart and both be completely on track, because velocity at any given moment depends on size, strength, mechanics, and how long a kid has been training with purpose. A freshman in the mid 70s and a freshman in the high 60s might land in the exact same place by senior year. Late bloomers are everywhere in this game.

The trap is comparing your pitcher to the kid lighting up a radar gun on social media. You don't know that kid's age, his training history, or whether that was his one hardest pitch of the year. Comparison to a highlight clip is a recipe for chasing a number and getting hurt doing it.
